Revised AO/OTA Fracture and Dislocation Classification

A revision of the AO/OTA Fracture and Dislocation Classification was published in the January 2018 issue of the Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma.

To provide users with a more streamlined, concise, and clinically relevant tool, changes to terminology and typography were made, a review of the codes with regards to frequency and applicability was conducted, paired bones (radius/ulna and tibia/fibula) are now coded individually, all fracture illustrations were newly produced, and a list of universal modifiers and qualifications were introduced.
